Diary of a Lagos Commuter: What is in a name?

Ok, a little digression here. I stopped by an eatery called ‘Labule’ to get a morning treat (don’t ask why). As I walked in, another lady walked in also. While ordering for a meal, I heard her ask, “Do you have meat pie?”. I had to roll my eyes at the question. The place is called Labule (Yoruba title given to an eatery indicating traditional meals are sold here) and you are here asking for meat pie. How na?! I guess she was looking for something cheaper. She finally settled for a plate of rice. I don’t blame her though, she may not have understood the name.
