In a bid to reposition and rebrand the Lagos State University (LASU), Sulcata World Entertainment has announced the hosting of the MISS LASU 2015, set to hold on September 11 at a yet to be disclosed venue.
In a Press Statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer of Sulcata Entertainment, Mr Oraka Nnyanyelu explained that they took up the challenge of organizing University pageants in a way people never expected.
“Miss LASU beauty pageant had a poor history and hadn’t been held in years. Also at that time, there was an alarming rate of negative news about LASU which made it difficult for any brand to want to identify with the institution.
“The challenge to not only organize the event, but to also re-brand the image of the school led to the establishment of the campaign “#TeamRebrandLasu” (eyes on the positive) which was to highlight on the positive sides of the school. Miss Ajoke Badmus, emerged winner at the MISS LASU 2012, and was awarded with the star price of a Car,” the statement reads.
However, due to the change of power in the Student Union Government of the ivory tower, the beauty pageant was assigned to another organization to organise in year 2013 and 2014 but didn’t get the much anticipated result and couldn’t meet the standard set by Sulcata Entertainment.
This made the Student Union Executives swallow their pride, and reached out to Sulcata Entertainment to again restore the glory of the beauty pageant by organizing the 2015 edition of MISS LASU.
Mr Sulaimon Adeyemi, Lagos State University Student Union President expects the event will meet the yearning of the students. In the same vein, Bamgbose Taofeek, the institution’s Social Director, stressed that the beauty pageant is the only event that unites the students, staff and alumni.
