Rethinking the United Nations for the Networked World
This week’s UN Climate Summit in New York did more than address the urgent issues of climate change. It also put a spotlight on the UN itself, and the role of the UN in tackling the most difficult problems of our increasingly complex world.
Today we are releasing our latest research initiative, “Rethinking the United Nations for the Networked World.” In it, authors Bruce Jenks, who served at the UN for thirty years, andDon Tapscott, GSN’s executive director, present an agenda for strengthening the engagement of the UN through global solution networks.
The UN was established at the close of World War II. Today, the UN must change critical aspects of its modus operandi in order to be more effective in responding to global challenges. This new research project explores the opportunities for deepening and widening the UN’s problem-solving role through participation in and collaboration with global solution networks, amplifying the effectiveness and legitimacy of the UN in the decades ahead.
